Forum on Homeland Security and Intergovernmental Relations
June 20, 2005

This IFIR meeting brought a number of distinguished visitors to the campus of the University of Kentucky to discuss intergovernmental aspects of homeland security. Homeland security policy requires states and localities to coordinate their efforts with the Federal government as well as with the private sector, including both for-profit and not-for-profit entities. At this forum, faculty and students had the opportunity to hear about the impacts of homeland security policy on state and local governments, the organizational and management challenges that they face, and the difficulties of prioritizing limited resources among governments and among multiple programs and policies.

IFIR seeks to encourage research devoted to the intergovernmental dimensions of homeland security, both in its domestic and international dimensions.
